A few clarifications on question #18.
#18 – Grin mining ASICs might also support æternity. Will æternity do anything about that? Is a mining algorithm change possible?
ASIC miners are super-specialized devices that require complete sync between the ASICs hardware and the mining algorithm. Even minor changes to the mining algorithm could render an ASIC inefficient for mining a certain type of coin. GRIN uses a different implementation of Cuckoo Cycle that is called Cuckatoo Cycle. Enabling the GRIN ASIC miner to mine æternity is not a trivial task.
æternity has not yet have a final position on ASICs. It is possible that such a position will become available before (high degree of certainty) or when a Cuckoo Cycle miner becomes available. A decision on whether to allow ASICs or to modify the æternity mining algorithm as to make ASICs unusable will most probably be put to a community vote (via the on-chain governance mechanism that is currently being developed). Therefore, the personal preference of any team member must not be accepted as “æternity’s position”. In the case of Dimitar - he has mentioned this a number of times in his reply.
Best,
