@mitch_lbw and I are working on a Java SDK and released an announcement about this during the last week:
Smart Contract support is already available. The documentation will be updated soon and we are also working on a showcase application so that it is easier for Java/Kotlin developers to get started.
If you can’t wait for this or our updated documentation I recommend you to have a look into our integrationTest where we compile and deploy a smart contract and interact with it:

- state channel support is currently not available. we try to implement it as soon as possible!

- this is the showcase where you can see how to integrate the SDK via maven (and soon also via gradle)
