Core Development Focus Until The Next Hard Fork - Fortuna (date inside)

Hello everyone,

We would like to announce that the next scheduled upgrade of the æternity protocol (Fortuna / 3.x.x) should happen on May 28, 2019. Phase 2 of token migration will end on May 7, 2019.

Here are the major projects that the æternity core development team will focus on up to the date of the fork:

  • Introducing significant improvements to the æternity VM, enhancing smart contract usability and efficiency.

  • Enabling generalized accounts which significantly improve AE wallet flexibility. Creating AE token wallets will be possible with ECDSA, EdDSA and other cryptographic signatures. EdDSA is actually a variant of Schnorr signature based on Twisted Edwards curves.

  • Introduction of Virtual State Channels, which enable off-chain opening of channels between peers.

  • Stratum support for the æternity node (should be available before the end date).

  • Transaction monitoring. This is not a consensus-breaking change. It simply allows for the better monitoring of transaction propagation throughout the æternity network.

no, this is more equivalent to routing channels over another, but they remain 1 to 1
