We should have an Updated road map for 2020 and coming few years

I second that notion

I definitely vouch for the native tokens, too, and proposed the oncept of attaching contract logic to ANTs to people that are unfortunately not longer with us one year ago, but currently, we unfortunately we do not have technical expertise for this anymore. ANTs would allow us to create and transfer an amount of tokens on mainnet that is high enough to be considered scalable, as the gas costs are estimated to be a tenth of what a contract-based token now takes to transfer. The fact that on such basis a stable token could be created allows the state channels to be actually useful for payments, because the currency everything is settled with in the channel is not subject to value fluctuation. You and your favourite supermarket could have a statechannel open forever, just withdrawing every now and then. For your daily purchases, you would just pay using the channel and that’s it.

The vision that people were promised originally: Decentralized scalable payments via blockchain.

sad to hear that. is there a chance that they will dive into that topic again?

Hyperchains, Hyperchains, Hyperchains

Much better than any native token anyways

totally different topics? hyperchains have nothing to do with native tokens?! are core-protocol state channels useful without being able to use native tokens in your opinion?

honestly said I can’t understand why we are talking about hyperchains without having state channels production ready yet.

Well, they are production ready to a specific degree. The developer adaption ecosphere isn’t just there yet. Like with the Sophia language - was there since 2018, but a tool to program stuff with it in a productive manner came a bit later…

On #hyperchains any token can be the new native. Xchain atomic swaps via jelly enable DEX.

yes they need to be usable on mobile e.g., too. currently there are too many unknowns for the people that might be interested in jumping in and developing applications that make use of state channels

I get your point and I have resigned myself to it. I just don’t understand why we switch the focus to another solution like hyperchains when devs still aren’t able to make use of state channels in a convenient way. and at this point we aren’t talking about ANTs which are far away at the moment.

I’m afraid people won’t be able to take these developments (even if they are cool and necessary on the core level) seriously anymore if already existing features can’t be used properly.

So hyperchains aim to replace state channels to some extent? Why do we need state channels then?

Do you think state channels are still required then? If so what’s the purpose of state channels if I can “only” deposit and withdraw the native token of the respective (hyper)chain to them?

I also liked the idea of virtual state channels. But it seems like we are dropping that idea now, right?

Where does the need for hyperchains come from? Starfleet projects?

I hope the bluntness is excused - it only comes from an uneducated viewpoint of not seeing any public-facing actions being taken by those who can take them.

There is not infinite amount of time to develop and refine a project - even if it ends up being the ‘bestest superest’ most feature-rich entry on the market.

Compounding Returns - is what it’s all about. Users on the blockchain are needed today - attracting other users - if it is ever to compete. The returns from having the core team develop a few native useful programs today would pay 1000x dividends in a year. Only after having kick-started the chain, should the improvements for its eventual need-to-scale be implemented.

All the different project that spent years in development only to get swallowed up by the developing market, never having began on their dream journey…

I really hope AE doesn’t become one of those.

Excuse me, where can I learn a lot about Hyperchains?

i think that is much needed thing at the moment. amazing

We still need a roadmap like we used to have in my opinion

Indeed. Some openness and communication (actual communication answering the detailed questions and engaging in discussions with the community, not the token Twitter update messages) from the folks at the head of this would be very welcome.

State channels are ready. There are still some details to be flattened there but the huge amount of work is already done. You can use AE State Channels ever since the first block mined on Aeternity. For this you would have to implement an off-chain protocol of your own. Since then we’ve added a full FSM support that does that for you.

What is still missing a SC client to make it easier for end users to use SCs. Currently it is great fit for B2B setup but not that much for B2C because you have to build your trustless client yourself.

Virtual State Channels would improve SC speeds for on-chain transactions which would be great in the long run. Since this is not a priority, no work had been done in that direction.

hi. Is there someone I can talk with about my AE tokens? theyre on a keep key from several years ago. group wallet. Id like to unfreeze them? Move to mainnet?

@Ianom check out this topic for how to migrate to mainnet

These were all Pablo Coiroilos promises…is he still with ae americas?

Any word on the legal blockchain entities suppossedly using the platform in the near future? When are the transactions coming?
